Meet Gary Causey, former Director of the HUD Jacksonville Field Office
Gary Causey has an impressive career behind him, having served as the Director of the HUD Jacksonville Field Office for 13 years until his retirement in December 2017. Throughout his career, he has shared his expertise on community development programs, including those related to disaster recovery efforts such as those following Hurricane Andrew, as well as more recent events like Hurricanes Matthew and Irma.
Over the past 25 years, he has overseen billions of dollars in federal funding, benefiting communities both large and small across the State of Florida. His guidance and oversight of HUD funding for Small Cities, HOME, Disaster Recovery, Neighborhood Stabilization programs, and more have helped to resolve unique challenges related to each congressional appropriation of disaster and special/supplemental assistance.
Gary has been recognized with numerous awards on behalf of the Department and various HUD Secretaries for his ability to effectively implement programs designed to serve low- and moderate-income individuals, resulting in positive outcomes through collaborations with grantees, partners, and stakeholders. His dedication and proficiency in managing people and programs have helped the USHUD Jacksonville Office of Community Planning and Development to be recognized as a top-performing office by HUD Headquarters.
